Ok guys and gals, Im working on getting the first tourney of its kind together, along with the Bowfishing Association of Iowa to help benefit a cause very close to me, The Wounded Warrior Project( Here) they help wounded Iraq and Afghanistan vets coming back to the states get the help they need, being counseling, better prosthetics, comfort packagages at the hospitals, and adaptive sporting equipment. I, with the help of a few others am putting on a tournement on the Des Moines River, it will be an all legal means of harvest carp and invasives tourney, ie bowfishing, snagging, gigging etc, this will be a big 10 format, with 2 native species allowed per team, teams will be up to 3 people with a 15dollar per person entry fee, and all procedes from this event will go to the Wounded Warrior Project. This tourney is set up to give everyone an equal chance at the cash boat or no boat. So please make room on July 31 for a good time on the river, and feel free to contact me for with any questions

good point pat, ok species that will be most common for this tournement, carp...bighead, silver, grass, and common...thos would be the invasives. For the native species which 2 will be allowed you have bigmouth and smallmouth buffalo, gar, quillback carpsuckers, suckers, drum, many of the native species are smaller and being a big 10 format please try to focus on the invasives, the 2 native species clause was agreed on between us the organizers and Carpbusters, one of our sponsors who we, the BAI have worked with in the past

tyson, the tournement will be on the des moines river from the lake redrock dam to the ottumwa hydro dam,and the pre tourney meeting and weigh in will be held at the south overlook shelter at lake redrock, an update Zebco stepped up big time with help, i got home for lunch and had 18 boxes in the garage full of door prizes, everything from big cat rods to heavy duty reels to combos in between , gonna be a good time

Ok guys and gals, heres just a partial list of door prizes, 8 Quantam Bigcat Proseries rods, close to 2 dozen reels ranging from 733s 808 bowfishers, 808 mags, rhino rbcxl baitcasters, theres a couple rhino spinning reels, about 7 202 combos give or take, half a dozen or so Zebco saltwater spinning combos, a couple cases of Cajun braid in 50 and 65 pound, hats and tshirts, theres more i just listed off the big stuff,

I'm out. My orders are getting changed and I have to make a trip out of town on that weekend now. Sucks, because I really wanted to be at the tourney, but good news because I will be getting some "bonus" incentives on my new set of orders. These guys deserve all the help they can get; after seeing some of the amazing medical treatments, seeing some of the things wounded warriors go through, and meeting some fantastic warriors and their medical staff this past week. They truly deserve everything we can give them.

The tourney went off really well saturday, we had 17 teams show up, but the fishing was pretty tougn first was 136.6 pounds and i totaled it up we weighed in 1700.2 pounds of rough fish, although i know alot more rough fish were removed from the river. We gave away a truck load of doorprize tickets which raised the majority of the funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, about 900 dollars for the first time event. And judging from the response of both the bowfisherman and snaggers it will happen again next year and should be bigger and better, i forgot to mention the big fish was worth 160 dollars and was a 25.8 pound buff and we gave away a total of 880 dolars in prize money. I cant thank everyone enoughthat jumped in and helped as i wouldnt have been able to pull it off without it. Handgunhunter, Bowfisher, Eric Van Wheeldon, a good friend from illinois John Carrigan, Randy connover, if theres anyone i forgot sorry but thanks to everyone
